Yay Fall!

I can't tell you how excited I am for the cooler weather! It is no fun to be pregnant in the heat. I am so thankful that I only had to endure the beginning and middle of my pregnancy in the heat. I bought mostly winter/fall maternity clothes, so it's nice to finally be able to wear those. Elliott and I have also enjoyed taking Lucy on walks in the evenings. I even broke out the leggings and boots last night! I love it!

This week I had a doctor's appointment. We're on week 24 now, so things are starting to get exciting. By exciting I mean that at my next appointment I get to have my glucose test to test for gestational diabetes. I get to drink a yummy sugar drink and spend an hour waiting to take the test. Sounds like a blast to me! But, it means that we're one step closer to bringing this little girl into the world. This last appointment, however, was very short and sweet. I just saw the doctor and didn't have any other tests to do. Everything looks perfectly on track. Reese's heart rate was 140 bpm and I measured at 24 cm, which is exactly where I should be for 24 weeks (1 cm/week is average). After this next appointment, I will be scheduled to see the doctor every 2 weeks. It seems crazy that we're already at that point. I knew that once school started, everything would start to pick up speed and boy was I right! I'm excited, but I need to check off a couple more things from my lists before I'm going to be completely ready for her to be here!

I've been starting to have a lot of uncomfortable symptoms lately. I probably wake up 2-3 times a week with leg cramps. Not just leg pain, but those crazy leg cramps that jolt you out of a deep sleep in the middle of the night and that feel like your muscle is upside-down. I never knew those were actually a common pregnancy symptom- go figure! Also, after working all day, my ankles and feet are starting to swell. It's nothing too painful or huge yet, but they are definitely starting to swell and I know this is only the beginning for that. Standing too much and sitting too much can make the swelling worse. So, being a teacher, I am on my feet all day long. I have hardwood floors in my classroom, which probably doesn't help. I also tend to side more with fashion rather than comfort when it comes to footwear and I'm sure this isn't helping my poor feet. The other thing I've noticed for the first time tonight is heartburn. Eww. I can tell already that heartburn and I are not going to get along.

We've continued to make progress on the nursery. The bookshelf needs one more coat of paint and then it will be ready to make its debut in the nursery. Last weekend we bought the bedding for the crib and we are anxiously awaiting its arrival (Well...mostly me). We're going to jazz it up a bit with some other colors and prints, so it's not going to be exactly as pictured when it's done, but here's what we bought.

bumper and crib sheets

bed skirt...which will look quite a bit different when we're finished with it.
We also registered at Babies R Us today! It was kind of impromptu, but I'm glad we got it done. I think that's the only place we're going to register. It was overwhelming to look at all the stuff that seems so foreign to us right now. We chose things based on recommendations from friends and reviews we've read online for the big stuff. I really like everything we picked out. I'm sure we missed things, but I think the registry will at least give people an idea of our style and the stuff we still need. Check it out and see what you think! We're open to suggestions!!! Here are my two favorite things we registered for...

I love, love, love this black and pink car seat.

BOB Revolution stroller. We're using this in place of a regular stroller. I can't wait to use it!
Elliott's two favorite things we registered for would probably be the corner guards to baby proof our house or the baby first aid kit...neither of which is worthy of a picture, but it's cute to me that he cares so much about keeping her safe. I also love that he lets me make the decisions about all the fun stuff.

One of the best memories I'll have of our experience registering was when Elliott was testing out the car seat and was trying to put it back in the base backwards. The lady helping us whispered to me, "Tell him to turn it around." We definitely are not pros yet. Another comical memory was when I told him to scan one of those padded shopping cart covers and he looked at me like I was crazy and said, "I will not go to the store with you if you bring one of those. That is ridiculous. I've never seen anyone use one of those before." Haha. We'll see... My favorite thing about my husband is how much he makes me laugh.<3

Biggest Cravings: chocolate milk and Mexican food
Clothes: I finally get to wear my leggings and boots! Well, for 2 days anyway! I went shopping this week and finally bought a pair of jeans I can live with. I'm still looking for the perfect maternity dress.
Body: Getting rounder.... :-) I'm noticing that it's not as easy to tie my shoes as it once was. Also, these leg cramps, swollen feet,  and heartburn are telling me that I'm not in the comfortable stage anymore.
Energy/Mood: Happy! I'm starting to get used to this pregnancy thing. :-)
Movement: She's still kicking at night and those kicks are starting to get stronger. I still think it's amazing every time I feel her.
Sleep: I'm still sleeping pretty well. I'm hoping this will last!!!
Best Moment this week: laughing with Elliott while registering...
Miss Anything? Beer. Sometimes after a long day of teaching, a beer makes everything better. I had a brownie instead. ;-)
Looking forward to: getting our bedding and dresser in and actually having a baby to put all that cute stuff we registered for to good use.

Love always,
Erin, Elliott, and Reese
