Month 4

Our beautiful 4 month old daughter.
"Thanks for the yummy flower, mom."

Dear Reese,

This month has been a busy one for you (and for your mom and dad). You have your own personality now and we just love learning about you. You have been talking up a storm. You're constantly babbling and experimenting with your voice. I don't think you're going to be quiet or shy when you get older! You love to interact with people, especially mommy and daddy. Whenever mommy talks on the phone, you just watch and think every smile and laugh is directed at you and you laugh and smile right along with her. This just makes mommy laugh even more. You absolutely LOVE having your cheeks kissed and we are happy to oblige. You still don't love the car seat, but you are starting to tolerate it. That is a big step for us! Now you've learned to arch your back when we put you in it, making it extra hard for us to buckle you up. You sure are a smart one! Your favorite song right now is The Wheels on the Bus. You love it when mommy sings it really slow and then speeds up. Man can you giggle! Your favorite toy is your exersaucer, but we've been putting you in your jumper toy and you're starting to like that too, you're just a little short for it right now.

Here's a little video of our giggly girl getting her cheeks kissed by mommy.

This month you visited mom's classroom. The kids just loved you and you love being around new faces. Too bad mom can't bring you to work every day! You also went to your first hockey game. You demonstrated one of your newest tricks...screaming. You don't scream because you're sad, you just love to see how loud you can scream and get everyone's attention. Fun trick! You tried this trick at Sam's Club the other day and we sure did get a few looks. For being so feisty, you sure aren't in any hurry to start moving. You rolled over from your tummy to your back when you were 3 1/2 months old. However, you'd prefer to just lay on your back or play in your exersaucer, so we haven't seen much of that rolling since then. You have also been drooling a lot lately, so I'm sure teeth are coming soon. You love to explore your mouth by holding onto your tongue and licking your lips constantly. It's funny watching you discover different body parts and try to figure out how they work. You figured out how to reach for toys this month. Now if only you could hang onto them! We feel lucky that you really don't spit up much. However, there have been a couple times this month when you have really gotten us good. It's always when we decide to run into a store really quickly and leave the diaper bag in the car. For instance, we went to Lowes the other day and you decided to spit up all over mommy's arm and onto the floor. We had nothing to clean it up with, so we had to run out of the store with spit-up all over us both. We got a few strange looks that time as well. Somehow when you become a parent, all the embarrassment just kind of goes out the window. It's definitely not all about us anymore! We tried a couple of solid foods this month. We started with some applesauce, which you loved, and then tried a little cereal, which you weren't too crazy about. At the end of the month we added in some sweet potatoes. Those were your favorite so far! Mommy also put your hair in a little ponytail for the first time. It stayed in pretty well and you didn't seem to mind it. It won't be long before you need a haircut!

We are still so amazed by you everyday. Some days we just can't believe this is our life! We are loving every minute of it (even the sleepless nights and cranky days). One day daddy came home, looked at you, and said, "I can't believe you exist." There are still days it is just so surreal that you're ours. We wouldn't trade it for the world.

Love,

Mom
