Our Busy Bee is 1!

Actually, she's 14 months now, but I'm just getting around to blogging her birthday. It has been a hectic couple of months, but things are settling down now and I'm looking forward to spending spring break with my 1 year old!

For Reese's first birthday, I wanted to choose a fun theme that I hadn't seen before. I was trying to steer away from the traditional pink girly birthday party, so I chose a bumble bee theme instead. It was a blast to plan and I think it turned out pretty cute. I learned a lot and will be doing a few things differently for birthday #2, but I'm still pretty proud of how it all turned out. It was great to have winter break to work on party stuff, however, it was crazy busy moving from Christmas, to New Years, to Reese's birthday, then to my birthday, and Valentine's day. That's a lot of holidays in a few short months (no wonder it has been hectic around here...). Good thing I happen to LOVE holidays!!!

Reese's Bee-Day invitation. My amazing sister designed it! The envelopes were bright yellow with bumble bees drawn on them.

Here are the decoration pictures!

I made this tulle wreath with a #1 in the middle. I plan on changing it each year to match her party theme and changing out the number in the middle.
Reese is anxiously waiting for guests (side note- She fell asleep before the guests arrived.)

This was a fun mantle to design. I made a flag banner with Reese's name. All of the pictures are from Reese's first year, including a several of my favorites from her birthday photo shoot. I also added her painting that she made on her actual birthday.
Polka dot balloons and pom-pom streamers in the windows
Reese's highchair was decorated with a ribbon and tulle tutu that I made.
Favors table: We included a Little Bea picture book as a guest book , yellow & pink gumballs ("bumble gum"), and her year-in-review poster (another thing that my wonderful sister designed).

We used this poster as decoration on the favors table. It has all of her first year stats.

This is fun!

We had so much fun at her party! Thanks to everyone who attended or sent gifts. Reese has plenty of toys to last her until her 2nd birthday and probably beyond. We are looking forward to many more adventures to come in year 2. We feel so blessed!
