14 weeks and going strong!

Today was my last day of work for the school year! Yay! I still have a few trainings to attend this summer, but overall we are planning on spending the next few months sleeping in, swimming, shopping, and having as much fun as possible.

I'm really starting to feel a lot better too- just in time to enjoy summer! I'm not as tired and I'm starting to get my appetite back. I guess this is probably why people say the 2nd trimester is the best!

We had a 14 week appointment with the doctor this week. It was short & sweet. This was my first appointment with my actual doctor. We chatted for a couple minutes and then she used the Doppler to find the baby's heartbeat- which was 160 bpm. We set up my next appointment, which will include a sonogram, and that was it! The appointment is scheduled for June 16th and we should know whether to buy blue or more pink!

14 weeks!!!

Reese just had to get in the picture too. Funny because hasn't really been into picture taking lately. Unless she is naked with one bow missing...

Reese loves our bathtub in the master bathroom. Here she is resting while I was getting ready for work.

And here she is playing dinosaurs in the tub.

Biggest Cravings: Oreos, fruit, Panera salad, French Fries
Biggest Food Aversions:  Still not loving meat, but it's starting to taste better these days.
Clothes: I did have to try the hair tie trick to fit into my regular pants this week. But, I made it to summer, so my wardrobe is mainly shorts & t-shirts for the next 2 months. Thank goodness!
Body:  I slept wrong the other night and woke up with a sore back, but it went away in a couple days. Other than that, I'm doing great!
Energy/Mood: Much better!!! I'm a tad more emotional than normal, but I'm feeling excited that my energy has picked up.
Movement: I have felt a few flutters these last couple weeks! Sometimes when I'm laying in bed, I swear I feel a deliberate little nudge that feels like a baby kick, but nothing big yet.
Sleep: Great! No complaints!

Best Moment this week: Hearing that sweet little thumping heartbeat :-)
Miss Anything?  I usually use nap time to get things done around the house, but lately I've been using it to take my own naps. Hoping to have that productive time again soon.
Looking forward to: SUMMER with Reese! This will be our last summer as just the two of us, so I'm trying to make the most of our time together!

We are very excited for this new journey! We are definitely looking forward to a somewhat relaxing and rejuvenating summer!

Baby Makes...FOUR!

We are very excited to announce that we are expecting baby #2! He/she is due November 19th, just one day after Elliott's birthday. He has already assured me that he will be fine with sharing a birthday with the new baby. In fact, it will probably be easier for him to remember his/her birthday that way! Here's the announcement we used on Facebook.

Reese doesn't quite understand what this means for her. She pulls up her shirt and tells me she has a baby in her tummy. Also, when asked whether she wants a baby sister or a baby brother, she usually replies "a baby." I think we've got that covered! She can point the baby out in the sonogram pictures, but the whole thing is just a little too abstract for her. It won't be long before it is all very real!

So far this pregnancy has been very similar to Reese's. I've been pretty nauseous from the beginning. I'm finally starting to feel a little better, but I'm still having trouble eating dinner most nights. Meat and red sauces have been off limits for me. I will be very happy when this stage is over!!!

Biggest Cravings: cereal, salsa, guacamole, Mexican food, crackers/pretzels/chips, chocolate. fruit
Clothes: Getting a little tight...looking forward to my summer wardrobe of shorts & t-shirts!
Body:  So far, so good! I've been very careful this time around to take it easy with lifting and moving, so I don't have back issues like I did last time. The PT warned me it will probably be worse the second time around, but I'm hoping I can prove her wrong or at least delay it!
Energy/Mood: I'm SO tired! But, I'm feeling like I have just a little more energy than I have the last couple of weeks. I actually have the energy to start writing in this blog (which has been on my to-do list for the last few weeks)! My mood varies...just keep me well-rested and fed and I'm usually okay.
Movement: No movement that I can feel yet, but he/she was sure moving around during the sonogram!
Sleep: I'm sleeping okay right now. At 16 weeks, my doctor said I have to start sleeping on my side (instead of my back). Things should start getting interesting then!
Best Moment this week: Seeing how much he/she has grown in the 12 week sonogram, as compared to the 10 week sonogram.
Miss Anything?  Cinco de Mayo was just not the same without a beer.
Looking forward to: finding out if this baby is a he or she! We should know by mid-June. I can't wait to start shopping!

Here are a few weekly pictures that we've started taking again. It has been fun to look back and compare these weeks to the ones I have for Reese.

9 weeks

12 weeks

Here are some sonogram pictures at 10 weeks and 12 weeks. We lucked into the 10 week sonogram since the doctor couldn't find the heartbeat using the Doppler (it was a little early). The 12 week sonogram was for the genetic testing, which we also did with Reese. We'll get another sonogram at 18 weeks and hopefully find out gender at that time!

Our 10 week gummy bear.

10 week heartrate- 179bpm

10 weeks-So tiny!

12 weeks- Look how much I've grown! We call this one the dinosaur pose!

12 weeks- arms- If you look carefully in the right picture you can see the baby covering his/her face with his/her arm. It did this the entire sonogram- especially when she was trying to take measurements of his/her head. It would put it's arm over it's face and turn away from us. So shy!

12 week heartrate- 168bpm (Reese's heartrate at 12 weeks was 164bpm.)

12 weeks- long legs!

12 weeks- so cozy!

Any gender predictions?!?

And no blog post would be complete without a few pictures of our first born!

Daddy is showing Reese the turtles in the water. She kept saying "Where? Where?"

Family selfie!

Her favorite toy to climb at our neighborhood playground. She is pointing to the moon.

Reese was obsessed with the dots on her skin from the sunlight shining through.

Reese practicing shaving just like daddy.

She loved it!

Thanks for all the kind comments and wishes! We are so excited for round 2, which I'm sure will be full of lots of fun, craziness, & love!
