We are in crunch time as we continue to prepare for the baby. I am usually the kind of person who plans way ahead, however, we are definitely going to be cutting it close with everything we want to get done. Elliott has been frantically working on finishing the basement, which will allow us to move Reese's playroom downstairs, and set up the crib we've had sitting in a box for over a month. We have most items for the nursery, we just need to clear Reese's stuff out and get it all set up. In the next 4 weeks. No big deal.
There is a good chance this might be my last blog post before the baby arrives. It's getting a little tough to blog these days with exhaustion, Braxton Hicks contractions, work, raising a toddler, this cold I'm fighting, etc., etc. Plus I'm not loving pictures of myself these days, so this might be the end of weekly photos!
At my 35 week appointment the baby's heart rate was 154 (the lowest it has been the entire time). I measured right on track (at 35 cm). I told the doctor I had some contractions the week before and she told me that if I went into labor from this point on, she wouldn't do anything to stop it. And that's when I went home and started panicking.
At my 36 week appointment the baby's heart rate was 164. The doctor always comments about how excited the baby is because the heart rate is always so high. The last two times she has made a comment about the baby being a girl. Each time I come home and study that sonogram picture from my 18 week appointment. I'm pretty sure it's a boy. :-) I was 50% effaced and at a 1. She said his head was very low. She asked if I was early with Reese (She was 4 days early) and she said to expect the same with this one. She also made a comment that I would deliver long before Thanksgiving, so that's hopeful. My goal is November 1st, since Reese was born on January 1st and I was born on February 1st. Also, I would like to make it past Halloween because I want to enjoy that holiday with Reese AND because I bought a Baby's 1st Halloween outfit for him for next year that will not fit a newborn. Plus, Elliott needs all the time he can get to finish that basement!!!
Biggest Cravings: Mexican food and chocolate
Biggest Food Aversions: None!
Clothes: Still wearing summer stuff since it's still in the 80's! I'm kind of sick of my wardrobe right now, so it'd be great if fall would go ahead and show up.
Body: Cough. Headaches, Braxton Hicks. Back pain. Swollen feet. Exhaustion. Yeah, the last few weeks aren't super fun.
Energy/Mood: Super emotional! I went on a crazy cleaning spree this weekend where I deep cleaned every carpet and couch, cleaned the bathrooms, and attempted to clean the baseboards and the glass windows at the very top of the kitchen cabinets. Luckily, Elliott took over finishing all these tasks once I was completely wiped out. He may or may not have caught me cleaning the bathroom with tears rolling down my face crying, "there's so much to clean." It wasn't my finest moment.
Movement: He's still moving like crazy. And since he's so low now, this means I've been using the bathroom about 8,000 times a day.
Sleep: Sleep is starting to get harder. I'm waking up more to go to the bathroom, plus my back hurts most at night. It's pretty hard to get comfortable. Thank goodness for my amazing pillow (The Bump Nest). It is my saving grace right now. And it takes up about 80% of the bed...sorry Elliott.
Best Moment this week: We got our maternity/family pictures back today and I'm loving them. I'm so glad we went ahead and took pictures this time around.
Miss Anything? My immune system!
Looking forward to: Halloween festivities!!! I love the holidays!!!
